Dalyan Information

Dalyan
In recent years more and more people have ''discovered'' Dalyan. It has grown to be a small town from being little more than a large village involved in fishing and agriculture. It is still small enough to walk from one end to another in less than half an hour. The town hugs the east bank of the Dalyan River that flows from Koycegic Lake down through reed-bed channels to the stunning Iztuzu Beach.

It was the endangered loggerhead turtle that uses the beach for nesting that first brought Dalyan to the attention of environmentalists from different parts of the world. If you want to join the many tourists that have enjoyed Dalyan before we will be happy to collect you from Dalaman Airport to drive you to your hotel or villa. The journey takes half an hour through Dalaman and the Turkish town of Ortaca. One constant of your journey will be the comfort in which you will be travelling. The other element depends on the time of day you land. If you arrive at night you will not be able to see the natural surroundings; it will only be the next morning that you will awake to see you are surrounded by mountains, many forested.
Green and Fertile
You may be surprised how green everything is. Seasonal fruit and vegetables are sold in local markets with plenty of variety all year round. Dalyan's market on Saturdays has plenty of this fresh produce as well as village eggs, local cheese as well as textiles and clothing both for tourists and locals alike.
There are plenty of direct flights into Dalaman from many regions of Europe from March round to early November. In addition domestic flights arrive regularly from Istanbul. That is the way to reach Dalyan through the winter months; direct flights to Istanbul from abroad then domestic connections. We can collect you promptly from both international and these domestic flights.

Ancient History
The popularity of South West Turkey is a result of many things beyond its wonderful climate and warm sea. There is history at every turn and there is a chance after you walk out of your front door you will see a piece of that history immediately. The King Tombs in the hill on the right bank of the river date back to the Lycians who occupied this region in the years before Christ. In those days the river was sea water with the lake also part of the sea. Since then silt has changed the landscape and what was once a major sea port, Kaunos is now well inland. It has yet to be excavated fully but there is still plenty to see if you cross the river and walk up the road past those impressive tombs.
Dalyan is a comfortable and safe environment for all. There are many tours available, boats or buses to the beach. Alternatively you can just relax in a tea garden, café or bar. When we collect you for your return journey to the airport our intent is that you will get the excellent experience that you have had since you first landed at Dalaman.
