Datca
Sailor loves South West Turkey. The Province of Mugla has an extensive coastline from north of Bodrum to well past Fethiye in the east. In all it totals 1,100 kilometres with the extreme south west a peninsula known by the name of a marina on its southern coast, Datca. The Peninsula is around 100 kilometres long with the town about halfway down towards the tip where the ruins of the ancient city of Knidos remain. The eastern end of the Peninsula is just a narrow strip of land only 1.5 kilometres wide with bays to north and south. Herodotus wrote that the Knidians who occupied that region thought about building a canal to effectively make it an island. They consulted an oracle that said if God had wanted it to be an island he would have made it that way originally. They abandoned the idea and promptly surrendered to the invading Persians in 540 BC.
Datca is a regular port of call for yachts cruising along the southern coast of Turkey to then turn north up through the Greek Islands or those doing the cruise in reverse. Our service from Dalaman airport provides comfort westwards past Marmaris to the south and on down the Peninsula to Datca.
Look out of the Window
While the journey will be more than two hours the journey is an experience in itself; your holiday will truly have started when we collect you after you have collected your luggage. Mugla is a very fertile province and you will realise this immediately. Despite the temperatures everything looks so green. There will be roadside vendors offering seasonal produce throughout the day as you travel. Once we reach the Peninsula it may lack the colour of the initial part of the journey but ironically when people talk about Mugla's produce one of the first things that will be mentioned is the Datca tomato, fresh in the markets until the beginning of winter.

Datca Town
There are many small villages on the coastal route to Datca and spectacular views of the sea. Datca itself is an established marina and we will get you there promptly to either join your craft or book into your accommodation, hotel or private villa. There is an ongoing debate on the development of the Peninsula because of its obvious attraction to travellers. To date that development has not been too intrusive with tourists happy to stay at traditional style pensions and not looking for 5 star accommodation. That does not mean that Datca does not attract the wealthy though many come on their yachts.
There are restaurants almost lapped by the waves and obviously this is a magical place for anyone who loves fish; it doesn't get any fresher! Our service taking you back to Dalaman Airport will be just as comfortable but perhaps your mood will be somewhat different. Departure is never as exciting as arrival. We are happy to provide our service to help you enjoy your holiday and there is always next year to look forward to. We will be ready!
