Marmaris
Before the Turquoise Coast of Turkey became so popular there were many small settlements, many with a rich history but small nevertheless. One such setting is today's busy tourist town of Marmaris, a natural deep harbour with an area of flat land in front of some impressive mountains. The flat area is now filled with bars, restaurants and tourist accommodation. Someone returning after thirty years away would simply not recognise the place. There is an excellent dual carriageway between the airport at Dalaman and the resort. The journey will be up to 90 minutes but such is the beauty of this green and fertile stretch of Turkey and the comfort of our transfers that it will pass in no time.
You must be prepared for a busy resort with a nightlife that stays open until the early hours. Some days you will certain to want to lie in yet the blue sea and nearby beaches are so tempting. You might think you can sleep out in the sun but beware because you do not want to get burnt. The climate on this coastline is predictable. It would be very rare that rain falls; indeed there are no clouds in the sky most of the time. You can cool down in the sea or hotel swimming pools.
Day Trips
It is worth planning two or three day trips if you have two weeks in Marmaris. Two of the most popular are quite a contrast. There are daily ferries to the Greek Island of Rhodes where the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is very interesting. There is time to explore as well as enjoy a leisurely lunch on a day trip and of course you can buy duty free goods as well.

The other popular day trip worth a mention heads east on the sea. Your boat will drop anchor close to the famous Iztuzu Beach, a nesting site for the endangered loggerhead turtle. The trip includes a gulet ride down through the Dalyan Delta, past the ruins of Kaunos to Dalyan that sits on a river bank below impressive Lycian rock tombs. Lunch will be included and your short glimpse of Dalyan may get you thinking of a future holiday there. A day trip from Marmaris has been the first introduction to Dalyan to many who are now regulars.
Nightlife
Back in Marmaris you might like a night in ''Bar Street.'' If you have stamina you can head there every night though it would be a shame not to try some of the local restaurants. Tourist demands have led to Marmaris having everything a holiday maker might want from an English breakfast to a Chinese meal.
Two weeks can fly by in a busy town like Marmaris. When we pick you up for your return journey to Dalaman Airport we can be sure of one thing; you will have a suntan. You probably have some great memories and stories to tell as well. Turkey, its people, climate and cuisine make a lasting impression on most tourists. See you next year!
